More about HSBC Bank:

Important Notice: RBC Merger

As of March 2024, HSBC Bank Canada has been acquired by and merged into RBC Royal Bank. While old HSBC account numbers and routing codes (Institution 016) may still be supported for a transition period, all new transfers should ideally be directed using RBC's banking information.

How to correctly fill out a transfer form

If you are still using your migrated HSBC account, your direct deposits and pre-authorized debits have likely been automatically moved to the RBC system. For new transfers, use the RBC institution code 003.

Tips for filling out the form

  • Check your new RBC Client Number: HSBC customers should have received new RBC credentials. Use these for all current banking.
  • Historical SWIFT code HKBCCATT is being phased out in favor of RBC’s ROYCCAT2.
  • If you have questions about a legacy HSBC account, contact the dedicated RBC-HSBC transition line at 1-800-769-2503.

FAQ

Question: Can I still use my HSBC cheques?

Answer: You should replace them with RBC cheques as soon as possible. Most legacy HSBC cheques were only valid for a short period post-migration (until mid-2024).

Question: Is my money still protected?

Answer: Yes, your accounts are now part of RBC, a member of the CDIC.
